Membership Info
The YSC currently boasts over 650 members. Our membership consists of people of all ages, as the Young in our club's name means "young at heart". Many of our original founders still serve on the club's Board of Trustees, who helps the Executive Committee preserve the history of the club, while helping make decisions to keep us in the 21st century.
At any of our events you can meet the newest executive at Oracle, Siebel, Google or Yahoo. We have members that are real estate agents, small business owners, contractors, lawyers, doctors, web developers, financial advisors, scientists, band members, au pairs, students and many other professions. Many of our members who met at an event are now married and have little Vikings to carry on the next generation of the club!
Membership Advantages
Besides networking, meeting a potential spouse and just having a great time making new friends, there are other advantages to becoming a member of the YSC.
- Only members can make reservations at the Clearlake Summer Cabin (you can usually bring 2 guests/non-members)
- Only members can make reservations at the Lake Tahoe Cabin (limited to 1 guest/non-member)
- Members-only events throughout the year (Yosemite, Canoe trip, Xmas dinner, etc.)
- Discounted admission to YSC events (Halloween and other city parties)
- Monthly printed newsletter and membership card
- Weekly event reminder emails
Who can become a member?
The best part of all is our low yearly membership fee. It is $30 for a single member and $40 for a family membership. A family is either a couple living together, a married couple, and families with children under 18. �Now that we have hopefully convinced you to join, here are the requirements;
- Citizens of a Scandinavian country (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway & Sweden);
- Persons born in Scandinavia;
- Persons who have at least one Scandinavian born parent, grandparent or great-grandparent;
- Persons who have lived in Scandinavia for at least six (6) months;
- Persons who speak one of the Scandinavian languages; or
- The spouse of a member

Our online application is quick and easy to fill out. Once you fill it out you might expect a phone call from one of our pioneer members to verify your information. Once you have been approved you will get an email notifying you of your new status and asking you to pay the membership fee. Once the membership fee is processed you will be given a membership number and sent a membership card in the mail with your first newsletter.
