 Muir Beach
 Sankt Hans Celebration
For centuries, Danes have celebrated the summer solstice with a bonfire on the beach, traditional songs, delicious foods and a favorite libation. Join the YSC and other Danish organizations at 3PM at Muir Beach to keep this Danish tradition alive in the Bay Area.
The group will meet for a picnic & BBQ at the stationary park grills and tables located at the end of the parking lot. The Sankt Hans Bonfire will start at 6PM and participants are planning on sending a witch off to Bloksbjerg in accordance with Danish tradition. At 9 PM the 'Rowdy' Danes will then take over Pelican Inn which captures the spirit of England's 16th century west countryside. Come for the Picnic or the Bonfire or both!
Please feel free to bring musical instrument, songs and if you have a witch lying around, bring her! If you have any old firewood lying around please bring it, but nothing with nails or paint. Craigslist is a great source for finding wood. Remember: no glass in hand is allowed on Muir Beach. Bring plastic cups for your drink of choice. Consider the Pelican Inn for overnight accommodations. This event is open to both YSC members and
non-members. Reservations: Reservations are not required for this event. |
