Towering redwoods is the norm here
The Mount Diablo hike/BBQ has been postponed, but to prevent your legs from becoming Jello before Yosemite, we offer this alternative long and amazing beautiful spring hike to the Berry Creek Falls. Arguably some of the prettiest in the Bay Area.
It's a long 11 mile loop hike and it will likely take 6 hours at a good pace. Elevation change is 600ft between parking lot and falls.
We're meeting at 10am at Park HQ (where you pay the parking fee) or at 9:30am at the parking lot at the intersection of hwy 9 and 35 if you want to follow us down the last part.
NOTE: There is a $10 parking fee per vehicle.
CANCELLATION: Rain cancels the event. Check this website the night before for updates.
Cell phones work poorly in the area we are going, but if you want to let us know you are running late, try calling us at 408-802-3204 or 707-303-6333. This event is open to both YSC members and
non-members. Reservations: Reservations are not required for this event. What to Bring:
Water for 6 hours, lunch and snacks to enjoy along the way.
What to wear: Mostly shaded (among towering redwoods). Cool in the morning, but warms up in the sun. Bring layers, the weather is easier to gauge once you are in the parking lot. Directions:
Please use the map link for directions from your location.
This park is located deep in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Coming from the Bay Area you would take hwy 9 from Saratoga going up the mountain, cross over hwy 35 (Skyline Blvd) and going west until you turn onto hwy 236, which brings you into the center of park.
Please beware that the last part of hwy 236 into the park is a narrow, curvy, one lane road - so take it easy! See map Questions? Contact Sigrid and Peter by email. |
